Star Frontiers

“Classic” doesn’t mean “old,” and, even though TSR produced the first Star Frontiers games starting in 1982, the universe of slimy Sathar, nifty needler guns, and spectacular space opera action has enjoyed a renaissance in the last few years that’s opened up the Frontier to a brand new generation of cosmic adventurers!

Thanks to the efforts of Bill Logan and DwD Studios, a Star Frontiers revival began in 2007 with a “re-mastering” of the original, publicly-available rules. The classic rules and character races were clarified and neatened up, and the layout was updated to today’s publishing standards, but the integrity of every original concept remained untouched. True Star Frontiers action was made available for free in a snazzy new package!

Fortunately, Bill’s generosity didn’t end there. Since the re-mastering, he and a number of talented writers and artists have contributed all-new expansion material for the game through their own publication, Star Frontiersman Magazine.

In each issue, the Star Frontiers universe grows larger with advanced rules, new gear and guns, additional aliens, maps, adventure hooks, planets, and spaceships. Star Frontiersman Magazine adds a 21st Century perspective to a game from the 1980’s – and every issue is free!

Bringing the Star Frontiers world into the World vs. Hero engine is made even more enjoyable with the added creativity of all of Bill’s contributors. Collaborative creativity is the heart of WvH, and very few projects embody the magnanimous spirit of genuine camaraderie as well as Star Frontiersman Magazine does. Even if WvH players ignore the mechanics of the Star Frontiers RPG, the classic, re-mastered, and all-new materials provide endless inspiration for boundless storytelling game experiences!
